Food Security – Join MAI in making a difference

Nearly one in three people in the world (2.37 billion) did not have access to adequate food in 2020; an increase of almost 320 million people in just one year. Countering food insecurity through agricultural training programs is crucial for developing countries. Samuel became passionate about this issue after attending a Community Health Evangelism (CHE) internship in Nairobi. He took what he learned about agriculture into Northern Uganda to teach the people how to achieve food security in their area.

During the height of the 2020 pandemic, while many people were struggling to find food, a CHE community in Northern Uganda was thriving under Samuel’s leadership. They were trained on various farming techniques including top dressing and fertilizer application. They worked together to plant a community garden which included cabbage, onion, tomato nurseries, and more. Despite the low rainfall, they persisted in watering their garden and yielded great results! They even sold some of the tomatoes to re-invest money back into the farm.

Samuel says, “We thank God for CHE group members who have committed themselves to train others so that food security will be achieved. Please pray that we will have more people to join our work, as well as resources to to conduct more training around Uganda.”
