A Persistent Young Mother with her Newfound Faith!

We love to share good news! We have a profound story from way up the mountains near the Himalayas! The Lord is so good and is opening new areas to share His message.

It is fascinating to see how God prepares the hearts of seekers and then helps them find a community that can minister to their needs. When Sabita came searching, CHE was there ready to help. Sabita’s story is powerful, and a witness to how God moves and orchestrates the circumstances to perform His miracles. Here is her story:

She was a young woman dissatisfied with her traditional religion and rituals.  Walking into a church one day, Sabita committed her life to Jesus Christ right there.  “I was just ready. God had prepared me.” she declared.

Some years later she moved with her husband to his family farm high in the mountains.  In her search for believers she was told, “There may be some, possibly, several ridges and valleys over.”  Setting out early one Sunday morning, she trekked for over two hours before finding them.  “How delightful to sing God’s praises and hear His Word with others again,” was her joyful remark.  Disease prevention and good nutrition were being taught there as well – it was her first exposure to Community Health Evangelism (CHE). The next week and the weeks following, she hiked the ridges, occasionally taking her teenaged son.  “My heart was being refreshed. The walk was no sacrifice.”

That was April 2023.  Two months later a group of CHE young people from that “over the ridges church” helped her build a crude but adequate bamboo worship shelter.  How thrilled she was!  The challenge was to “fill this structure” with neighboring farmer families.  As she shared, and the CHE team taught CHE lessons in the community, people started coming to the services to hear more…and, believing in Jesus.

Sabita’s teenaged son was already quite knowledgeable in the Bible and mature in his faith. However, the CHE team arranged a 6-month Bible course for him. Now, at 16, he leads the service when the assigned pastor/CHE trainer cannot come.

Recently, when visitors from Medical Ambassadors International’s regional office trekked for two hours up the steep slope to visit, the CHE team excitedly updated them:  Of the 11 families in this small village, nine had already committed their lives to Jesus, because of Sabita and her family’s witness.  We praise God for working in Sabita’s life and for her enthusiasm and tenacious heart, opening doors for the Gospel.
