In late January 2025, Goma fell under the control of a terrorist group, resulting in unimaginable devastation. CNN reports that over 3,000 lives were lost, and more than 2 million people are trapped in the region, cut off from vital supplies. The humanitarian crisis unfolding in Goma is dire, and our partners on the ground are urgently seeking support to provide life-saving assistance to those in desperate need.
The Current Crisis
The violence has left many families torn apart, and the region is now in desperate need of food, medicine, and basic necessities. Local infrastructures have been destroyed, leaving the population isolated and without the resources they need to survive. The loss of life is overwhelming, and emotional wounds run deep throughout the community.
Our Immediate Response
We are mobilizing efforts to provide crucial relief to 100 families directly affected by this crisis. Our initial response includes the distribution of food and medical supplies to help address the immediate needs of the most vulnerable. This is only the first step, as we know the suffering extends beyond physical needs.
Emotional Support and Trauma Healing
As we continue to provide relief, we are also committed to supporting the emotional and mental health of those impacted by this tragedy. We will provide Trauma Healing training to local leaders, equipping them to offer vital emotional support to their communities. In a time of such profound loss, healing and emotional recovery are as crucial as physical survival.
