Conflict to Community in Eastern Cuba

From Conflict to Community: Transformation in Eastern Cuba

In a rural community in eastern Cuba, life was marked by violence, theft, broken families, and mistrust. Fear and instability ruled the streets, and many believed that change was impossible. The community had struggled for years, with no real hope of transformation.

Bringing Light into Darkness

But then, something remarkable happened. The ECS team began visiting homes, sharing the Word of God, praying with families, and discipling new believers. For the first time in Cuba, a Door-to-Door Evangelism initiative took root in the area, bringing the gospel directly into homes.

As people opened their hearts, lives began to change. Families once divided by conflict started seeking peace. Those who had been known for causing trouble found new purpose in Christ. A new church was planted, and the entire atmosphere of the community shifted.

A Community Transformed

One of the local leaders approached Pastor O. and said, “What the government-run social programs could not accomplish, the church has achieved.” For years, various state-sponsored organizations and initiatives had tried to address social issues, but their efforts failed to create real, lasting change. Yet, through faith, discipleship, and genuine community engagement, transformation was taking place.

✔ People felt safer.
✔ A gathering place for worship was built with the community’s own resources.
✔ Seven new believers were baptized.
✔ Neighboring communities began talking about the positive changes they were witnessing.

This transformation is proof that the gospel changes lives—not just individuals, but entire communities. Through faith, discipleship, and community engagement, a place once marked by division and fear is now experiencing peace and restoration.
