Moray lives in Sabad, a desert region in South-Central Asia, with her four
children—one daughter and three sons—and her husband, who works as a
street vendor despite being disabled, with one leg shorter than the other. Like
many families in the district, they live in poverty, residing in simple huts and
struggling to meet even their basic needs due to limited income opportunities.
Moray comes from a Hindu background and previously worshiped idols
believed to have divine power until the IDMM team began visiting the
community and sharing stories about the living God. After reflecting on these
teachings together, Moray and her husband realized the idols they worshiped
were man-made, leading them to break the idol in their home and choose to
believe only in the living God; since then, Moray has experienced deep
happiness, peace, and comfort in her heart and now fully trusts and believes
in Jesus.
Broader community development efforts based on Integral Disciple Making
Movement (IDMM) principles has brought change to Sabad in the last quarter,
including the opening of five new sewing centers serving over 100 village
women, as well as three adult literacy classes helping 43 men and women
learn to read and write—skills that are vital for the small businesses they are
launching through Starting Healthy Business training. Ten discovery groups
now meet regularly, where participants respond positively to stories and
practical health lessons addressing issues such as smoking, malaria, scabies,
goiter, and nutrition, while also learning moral values like forgiveness,
overcoming anger, and honesty. Bible stories, including the miracles of Jesus
and the story of Cain and Abel, are helping community members learn
together about following the living God. As a result, seven new believers have
emerged, and three active volunteers are taking ownership and serving their
communities, contributing to growing hope and positive change throughout the
Sabad district.
